First shoot of the year is a shoot I have been planing for a while now. I found some amazing masquerade masks online some time around November last year but I didn’t want to invest so much with out actually seeing them.
I found a few located in a local costume rental that i could have cheaper then normal, so now it was time to plan the shoot.
My idea was to shoot with a very narrow depth of field so that the focus was drawn to the eyes and the mask. I also wanted to keep things sensual but not create something that looked cheap. All masks were Venetian masks, handmade and hand decorated in Venice. But i had stripped them down and repainted to get the look I wanted. The detail is like delicate filigree making these masks completely stunning. It’s simply impossible to get this effect with plastic, fabric or leather.
I hope you enjoys a small selection of the photos and a big special thanks to my models you were fantastic.
I have so many photos from this shoot i can’t choose just a few. So I will do a second blog soon with more photos an maybe some lighting diagrams.
beautiful 🙂

I like the portraits where the two eyes are visable. Lovely mask and lighting!
