My plan is to get out of the studio a bit more this summer so it seem like logical choice for location shooting. Comes in it’s own pouch…unfolds, and folds up easily what more could you want. To help keep the hood in place you attach the pouch (that it comes in to the to of the hood, it turns into a small counter weight holding the hood better in position. If you have a smaller screen then you may want to clip the small domes together, this reduces the width of the hood at the top so it will fit smaller notebook screens. All the example photos are taken with a 15″ Dell Inspiron.
As long as you are sitting at arms length and directly in-front of the screen you have a good view of almost all the screen. I have tested it on a friends 13″ ultra book* and it seemed to fit better than than on my 15″ Dell* , I think it would be very tight on any notebook with a bigger screen.
* to hold the hood in place on the 13″ note book i closed the fastening domes. With the dome closed the hood is to small for my 15″ notebook.
update…. On the weekend I found an extra advantage to using this style of hood. the usb ports were easily accessible for tethered shooting.
